Was given an appointment to come look at it and was told I would get a 360 video sent to my email. Did not get it and all off a sudden the car was not available on the website. I called and was told that they were still getting info on it. A couple hours later I called and was told there was a new sales person on it and the manager would call me and send me a 360 video soon. When the Manager called me he said that they just got that car in and proceeded to tell me about an Escape with 101,000 miles on it. I told him that is the wrong car. He asked which one I was talking about and immediately told me the car was sold last week. This car was on the website and even said it was marked down 100 dollars from the day before, What a way to waste my time and I felt like this was a bait and switch. They had to know earlier they messed up and the car was not there. I would have really been mad if I drove the hour there. My salesperson, Jonathan Cofre, was outstanding, very transparent, honest, communicative, and hardworking. He was patient and friendly with me and my family as we explored the 2024 VW Atlas SEL Peak Edition. We drove up twice after work, over an hour each way, and every time the car was freshly washed and ready for a test drive.When I had concerns, Jonathan immediately addressed them with his manager and the body shop, which made me feel comfortable moving forward. His managers, Ted and Rich, as well as John in Finance, were also excellent to work with, pleasant, professional, and honest when it came to the deal and paperwork.Jonathan even stayed very late after the deal, close to 10 p.m., to make sure we transferred everything out of our old car and left safely. The dealership itself was clean, welcoming, and family-friendly with a play area for kids. Overall, I felt very well taken care of.Thank you, Jonathan, for welcoming us to the VW family. He said he was not aware of that and promptly send me more interior pictures of any defect. Very nice. BUT I was very clear that I didn't want to drive 9 hours and find any more surprises. He and his manager both said I'm buying the car "as is". I understand that but also didn't want any more surprises and wanted full discloser on the condition of the car. I was clear about this and they had nothing further to disclose. So I drove 4.5 hours to test drive and hopefully purchase the car.Upon arriving and within 1 min of looking over the car, the salesman told me the rear blinker wasn't working and the serpentine belt would not pass inspection "as is" and that I needed to sign a piece of paper acknowledging that I was made aware of this and that I was taking the car "as is". Obviously I was fuming mad about this. This is exactly the information that should have been disclosed before I spent a day missing work and driving 9 hours round trip. Beyond that there were other items about the car that would have been nice to know ahead of time. I test drove the car and there were just too many other minor and potentially major issues with the car.I told the salesman I was not taking the car, very unhappy with this poor business tactic etc. He asked me "would you have preferred if I lied to you and not told you about these issues". No joke. Can't believe this is how they treat potential customers - Here take this car that is not street legal and might have the main belt break on your 4.5 hour journey home - can't understate how horrible this experience was and how "used car salesman" it felt. I, as a consumer, must also decide whether to utilize your services. I simply do not see the value for the fees you charge. Finally, I was charged a few dollars for mats and another incidental item. These were quite annoying and finally forced me to reply with a sarcastically toned reply, "you can have my EOS when you pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel." Anyone that wanted to listen knew of our 25 year old car that would not die. We traded that car in on August 23, 2025 for a new Mazda CX-30. This should be a time of excitement but it has been very disappointing and has left me concerned for my safety. Starting on day one there has been a string of electrical problems. Navigation, phone, radio, domelight and brake lights. The brake lights do not always work. I have parked it and will not drive this car. I am concerned what is next to go.
