Comment : Do not be fooled by the fake good reviews or the legendary customer service. If you buy a car or get work done on your car here, you will experience immense grief and regret and would be better off throwing that money into a furnace. At least if you just burned your money, you aren't wondering what they might have messed up due to gross incompetence. Seriously, do not let these people work on your car for your dear life and the safety of your family..
When I moved here, I had to come to terms with the fact that there just are no local options for goods and services, and that I would have to do it all myself and shop online. I learned this via wasting my time exploring and having a series of bad experiences. For some reason though, York's seemed viable if I didn't mind paying a truly extortionate 5x price, I thought wow, at least they have great customer service and at least they can actually fix the problem.
I once was too busy to care to order or do my tires and took my Porsche here with a set of new TPMS sensors. They ordered the tires there, which were fine and of the model I told them I wanted. The part which was not fine was where they picked the car up beyond the lift point and damaged a coolant hose (which is actually quite hard to do, as you can lift along the whole length of the car beneath the rocker panel, and is 7 inches deep- plenty of room to work with).. I tried to understand their mistake, merely told them about it, then purchased the hose and replaced it myself. No problem, it was actually unusual how easy and cheap it was for this car, and I just let it go. Except the new TPMS's would not register. I later found out that they were all damaged during installation... You dont want to know what they costed.
I did without TPMS and went on with my life, and returned to York's when those tires needed replaced. This time I just took the wheels off the car and dropped them off. They were returned with scuffs and scratches on the surface as though someone rolled them down hard on the face... At this point, I'm still understanding and just said oh well, it doesn't affect the car's performance, and it's just the wheels, they should look beat up. Or whatever I told myself.
Later on, I took my Subaru in because I was hearing a chattering sound from behind the engine. I sat in the lobby for about 4 hours, then was told it was just a loose heat guard which required 4 man hours to access and simply tighten... That was nearly 400 USD. The chattering was gone for about a week, then came back. Still chatters to this day.
Now just recently, I took my Subaru outback in with clear instructions for what I wanted looked at. I had driven back from Canada with a misfiring engine, possibly a stretched timing chain or coil, plug, injector, and dropped it off in the night, as I had work all the next week for the entire days. In the morning, I called and told them the details. The lady I spoke with confirmed that she found my keys and my car was in the system and would be looked at.. A few days pass and I start calling and can't get them to answer. I'm also just busy and assume they're handling things properly and will call me when they know.. One WEEK goes by and I call THRICE to get an answer. I was NOT in the system and nobody seemed to notice my car was sitting there with the keys still in it... I told them of my frustration and then just said OK, can you check it out now, here are all of the details again, please check for misfires and timing.. After three more days, you would not believe if you saw the MULTIPLE SHEETS of 5000 USD total repairs completely UNRELATED TO ANYTHING I discussed or told them I needed looked at.. They wanted me to approve this sheet so that they could get to work on the repairs right away...
They are always closed when I am out of work, so I ended up just going by to pick up the Subaru with my extra set of keys. I'm sure they would love to charge me 400 USD for whatever this is they want to call it, but just send it to collections, I'm fine. And I don't ever need to go back..
