Comment : On April 12, 2025, I had the pleasure to work with Dylan and Alex. I just purchased a used 2009 Volvo XC70 and knew it needed some work but not sure what. I was anxious to figure out what was needed and to get it resolved; enter Dylan! I was greeted by Dylan with the most calm and helpful disposition as I explained what I needed. Dylan was so patient, so thorough, and so kind. He escorted me to the convenience store to wait while they inspected and diagnosed the issue. A short while later, Dylan returned with the information and escorted me to my car to meet with Alex and they walked me through the diagnosis. After reviewing the issue, Dylan gave me the best plan of action to ensure I didn't spend money unnecessarily. I also asded on an oil change and a state inspection and we scheduled an appointment to complete the work on April 14th. I arrived at 7:30am and Dylan was there waiting for me. He greeted me with the same professionalism and assured me that my car was good hands. Later that day, I went to pick up the car and everything was fixed. The very next day Dylan contacted me to conduct a courtesy call, which I have never encountered from any other repair facility. The entire experience made me feel like a VIP. As long as Dylan and Alex are at this location, I will be a customer!!!! Dylan and Alex, thank you again for your professionalism, attention to detail, and quick appointment.

Comment : My wife and I have been taking our cars to Yates Automotive for maintenance and repairs for well over a decade. We have consistently been pleased with their outstanding workmanship and friendly service, and highly recommend them to our neighbors and friends. The customer service and commitment shown by the management and staff of Yates Automotive is especially remarkable. Here is an example from my own personal experience: After buying a new vehicle from our local dealer, I took it to Yates from the very beginning for continuous servicing. Years later, the transmission in this vehicle broke down on a highway in North Carolina and the car was totally disabled. After asking our friends at Yates Automotive for their help, they arranged to have the vehicle transported to Northern Virginia to be examined by their own mechanics. At that time, the car’s transmission was still under warranty, but it was not being honored by the dealer. However, Yates Automotive intervened with the dealer on my behalf. As a result of this intervention, the dealer ended up totally replacing the transmission at no cost to me and my wife. What Yates did for us reflects a level of customer service and commitment which is rarely seen anymore in our society today. Thanks again to Yates Automotive for your remarkable support over many years!

Comment : Highly recommended!! My husband and I recently moved here from NC and needed vehicle inspections on a total of 3 vehicles. The manager at Yates, Dylan, took a personal interest during our visit. After a thorough inspection all vehicles passed but two had a few non-inspection issues Dylan brought to our attention. His patience and advice was so appreciated!! Dylan explained as much as I could comprehend on my own, then he repeated everything for my husband over the phone. I have been asking around for a good mechanic in our new neighborhood. And now I have found it!!!! Yates should be your auto repair specialist too!

Comment : Just had an state inspection done here.

Pros: their free car wash promotion is good, as well as the $5 off with chik-fil-a receipt. Inspection was quick (~10 minutes) when it finally started.

Cons: 1) waited a full hour at the front of the inspection line due to the inspector being on "break" with no break sign and without telling any of the other staff. I had to keep searching for employees to get updates; one person came to me about 20 minutes into waiting to apologize and try to move things along, but he didn't know what was going on either. 2) They almost lost my keys due to miscommunication among staff. 3) They said they left the inspection checklist/ printout in my car but never did, so the only proof I have is the sticker - minor, but inconvenient. 4) The car wash location is separate from where they promote it, which no one told me until I circled the area and came back and asked someone. You have to find the address yourself (it's not far, though). 5) They give you a form to fill out personal information (not just the vehicle information) with no context for how it will be used; something I've never had to do for a basic state inspection. Then they lost my form and made me fill out another; then, they found the original after I completed the second. Very insecure and questionable process.

TL;DR: The experience was overall unprofessional but the deals offered made it barely worthwhile.

Comment : On 04/09/25 I took my car there to get an inspection. And I was happy that I was next to go inside. After a very nice mechanic brought me a form to fill out. Then the inspection inspector came and said that he was ready for my car. He had a very nice smile and kind voice. He said that you can go into the convince store. We have free coffee and tea while our customers wait for their car. I went inside and sat down and waited for my car. It wasn’t long before it came out with a rejection sticker on it. I couldn’t believe it the first time since I purchased my car. Pre-Certified Used Car 2014 at koons Ford. Then the inspection inspector came over to my car. And showed me why my car failed this time. I felt like I was going to pass out. Then a mechanic named Dylan came over and said maybe I can help. And he had a big nice smile and a kind voice. When he started talking about my car. I could tell that he really knew what he was saying. And that he had a lot of knowledge and experience working on cars. He told me yes he had around 10 years. Dylan told me that he would be able to fix my car. And he said had to check to see if he had the parts. Dylan said he would give me a car loaner to take home. No charge for the car just put gas back in it. Come back and get my car tomorrow morning anytime after 7:30am. Dylan was so kind and helpful and patient with me. My First credit card was denied. So I had to drive all the way back home to get my other card. And call Dylan back with the information to see if it would go through. And it did and I drove back to Yates Repair Services and picked up my car. And I thanked Dylan for helping me with fixing my car. Even though it cost me a lot of money. But when driving my car home it drives like a new car. So it was worth every penny. And thanks again Dylan you did a great job on my car. You’re a great mechanic Dylan and have a great personality. And you will be seeing me in the future. I wish that Yates gave senior citizens a little discount. But I think that Yates is a Multi Million Dollar family Business. Because I looked it up on line they have so many other businesses So I hope that Yates is paying you Dylan very well. Because I know that you are well worth it. And I had my wonderful husband with me. Because when I move he moves too.
