Went here for a few years, but every time I went in they found something new wrong with my car and I had to pay hundreds of dollars for new issues. I was starting to become skeptical there were actually issues.

I took my car in for inspection and they told me my rear caliper was "leaking brake fluid" and had to be replaced. Since I just had my calipers replaced 1.5 years ago, I was doubtful. I drove to the shop and asked them to show me because I didn't believe them.

The mechanic lifted my car and pointed to a spec of dirt near my caliper and said "see look it's leaking." I rubbed the dirt off and told him that it's dirt?not break fluid?but he kept insisting it was brake fluid. His explanation and story kept changing. He insisted there was more there earlier. I asked him "did you wipe it off? because it's not there anymore" and he said no....but had no explanation as to where all of the break fluid went.

I asked him to drive it around, hit the breaks, and see if more fluid came out. He did, but when we checked the caliper again there was no sign of break fluid leaking at all.

Eventually, they admitted there was nothing wrong with the calipers and they passed my car for inspection.

Given the reviews of this place, I'm sure they don't try and scam everyone, but they tried to do it to me. If you take your vehicle here, I'd ask them to prove every single thing they claim needs to be fixed because they might be lying.

Comment : Whalen Auto is the best mechanic I have ever brought my vehicles to. Fast service, great staff, fair prices, good communication, and locally owned. I began by bringing my personal vehicles there and now bring my business vehicles as well, since I know they will help us keep up on the preventative maintenance and make sure our work van and truck will stay on the road.
