Comment : I m going to share my horrible experience with Smiths garage. My husband hit a deer and we took it to Smiths. Now we take it to Smiths for an estimate and without us giving them permission, they start to take our truck apart, when all they were supposed to do is give us an estimate. Perhaps it was unavoidable to take it apart, I m not sure. JUST to take it apart and take the things off the truck was over 500.00, which I thought was awfully high. While going through this process, they said it would be way over 10,000 to fix it.The insurance made us total it and gave us a portion of that, as we bought it back. We took our truck to someone else local, who is now fixing it for less than 10,000. The man fixing it said the emblems were not there, that go on the sides of the truck. I just called up there and spoke to some guy, whom was EXTREMELY RUDE. This guy told me that the insurance company already paid me for those emblems and I d need to purchase brand new ones. Not one time did he actually say they threw them away. This was the question I asked repeatedly and the only thing I was trying to get to the bottom of. I said, I don t want brand new ones, as those are the ones that were on the truck. My dad s truck! Maybe I m just a little sentimental, as after my parents lost their home, that truck was LITERALLY all my dad had. My dad died 4 weeks after he lost his entire home to a fire. So I m trying to keep the truck as it was when he had it. Excuse me for trying to save every piece of it that I could. The emblems were able to be re-used and they were not involved with the damage. This guy stated the Tundra letters were to long and broke, while removing them. Ok! Accidents happen, what about the other 2 emblems? The guy got very upset with me, because I wanted them back and literally smarted off to me Well, look lady, I m not the one that wrecked your truck . I m absolutely shocked at this point, that someone would say that to a customer. If I d of been cursing him or something I d understand the remark, but it wasn t the case. At this point I told him, I was very disappointed with my entire experience with them and would not return again. Whether they fixed the truck or not, I was a customer and had bought a car from there a few years ago. Needless to say, I won t EVER step foot back there again. Another one of my family members just bought from them as well.Moral of this story is, if you re wondering why insurance is so high. Your body shops that are nickeling and diming the insurance companies is probably a good start.I m going to share my horrible experience with Smiths garage.
