Comment : I originally wrote a 5-star review in May of 2023:
"Our salesman, Andrew, was awesome! He was well-spoken, knowledgeable, and more than willing to go out of his way to help us. Can't say enough good things about Andrew."
Well, after 2 1/2 years, apparently, Andrew is gone. Maybe he didn't want to work for a greedy, unethical dealership, or maybe he didn't want to sell cars for an unethical, greedy manufacturer like GM.
My 2023 Buick's clearcoat began to peel off earlier this year. GM, it turns out, only warrants its paint for 12000 miles, about 10 months or so for the average driver. I could literally get a $7 can of spray paint from Walmart and paint metal and it would last that long. But GM doesn't care. Won't stand behind its product.
So, no worries. The dealership, Skyway, tried to sell me a Zurich Shield policy, which was represented as protection against defects in both the exterior paint and interior leather. Skyway was going to charge me $900 for this amazing "coverage. " I rejected the offer, but asked them to throw it in for free to finish the deal we were negotiating. They did. When it came time to meet the slimy Finance Manager, I discovered the Zurich Shield policy actually was only worth $286, as that was what he documented in the paperwork. That means Skyway was trying to originally rip me out of around $614. Slimy. But at least I had the protection, right? WRONG. Zurich told me they would not cover the defect. There is only a tiny window of coverage and none of it includes paint damage like mine, according to the Zurich lady who called me. She also, after I ranted against her company and GM, essentially agreed with me that her company was unethical. Good for her. But, nevertheless, I'm stuck with a crappy paint job and an unethical dealer, from whom I will never buy another car.
We live in a culture where greed is king. Almost all large companies, from GM to Google, care nothing about ethics. All that matters is an extra dollar they can make--no, steal--from we consumers, who are mostly at their mercy. My advice: stay away from both Skyway and GM. Neither deserve your business.
