Comment : OK, to be fair, this is not the first time I have taken my car in here to be worked on. But I admit it, I am a do-it-yourselfer, I kinda like figuring things out on my own, doing all maintenance work myself, even tackling a few jobs that are bigger than I thought they would be initially, and saving a LOT of money in the process. But sometimes you have to leave it in the hands of the pros, and this shop has done 3 such jobs for me in the past on 2 other cars. Quickly done, well done, without a lot of BS, and at reasonable cost considering everyone's labor rate is $100/hr or higher. I can't remember if I left reviews before, but I am making up for it now.
Scenario: I get a check engine light come on, check it out, it seems like pretty serious multiple issues, with potential for breakdown or damage if ignored. Signs pointed to a complicated wiring harness electrical problem, and I realize it's time to let the pros handle it. Because of the complexity, I first go to the local Jeep dealer, because they know the vehicles, must have seen this problem before (it's a common one, it turns out), and they have all the documentation, factory repair and diagnostic manuals, wiring diagrams, and test equipment to figure it out. And they have a big facility, with multiple bays and mechanics, and maybe they can get it done for me today instead of waiting a couple days at a smaller garage. I pull into the Jeep dealer, there's nobody in service line ahead of me, talk to service manager, tell him what's up. We agree it's a wiring problem, he asks if I have an appointment. I tell him no; he says I can write it up as non-running"tow-in", and then if somebody fails to show for their appt, he might put somebody on it, maybe they can look at it within a week. I ask when the next appointment available is, and he says, "October" ! 6 weeks from now ? What the hell ?
So I go straightaway to see Nick at Schdy Auto Service, ask him if this is a job they feel comfortable doing - he says yes, I leave the car, and he tells me somebody will look at it and call me late this morning. Long story short - I get a call about 4-5 hrs later, car is all fixed ! 2 hrs labor, a bit for some parts & supplies + tax, I'm outta there for < $300.
Bottom line, if your car needs to be fixed, and you're in a jam, you should drive as fast as you can to these guys. They know what they are doing, if they don't, they'll say so. You will get it done fast, and fair, you won't be out $50-$100/day for a rental for a week, and you won't have to wait 6 wks before somebody looks at it, and then empty your wallet on top of it.
I simply cannot say enough about the staff, the mechanics, and the SERVICE that this shop brings to you, the customer.
