Lake Isabella , CA Reviewed : 02/03/2026 Comment : 1999 Ford Ranger 4.0 4x4 Stepside that Precision Automotive has been working on since I inherited it 50,000 miles ago. It needed an oil change, and it had a check engine light and Wes and Carolyn Miller staff dispatched the problem in an expeditious manner and I was out of the location and on my way in under 2 hours. I drive 60 miles plus to have my vehicles serviced by him and his staff and have done so going back over 15 years now. I don't trust anybody in Ridgecrest or Bakersfield. I had some of my 2005 Mercedes parts stolen when sitting at the Lake Isabella Senior Center bus stop. However I needed it towed. The guy Chris came and charged me over $350 to tow 6 min away to the Precision Auto place. I had a part they needed to get my car on the tow bed, which came with my car and I never got back even after asking multiple times for it back. Anyways, I talked to the owner he said the car shouldn’t cost nowhere near 10k when I asked for estimate of costs. I told him if it’s around that or more I’d rather buy a new car. Well weeks later I went up to check the status for real estimate and he tell me it’s going to be over 15k I told his wife that I have to see about it and asked for my key back she said no because they needed it. Long story short, she kept calling me asking if I could pay half for parts. By this time they had my car hostage and I felt pressured as a woman with 3 small kids and no help. I really needed my car as I didn’t have any other transportation and already was taking the bus. Since I had a settlement coming in I decided to pay the deposit. I payed $7,500 up front and because I live only 6min walking distance I would walk to see if my car was being worked on. The owner said only 2 weeks but my car was sitting in the yard for over 2 months when I had appointments planned for my kids and everything. When they finally started working on it he kept saying they couldn’t get certain parts. Like why did I pay $7500 then? Basically my car stopped working and over heated after only 3-4 months driving my car after paying 15k out of pocket . I had it towed home from triple A. The place were antifreeze or whatever goes had a hole in it. Anyways, I was reluctant to call them because I already didn’t want to deal with their nonsense and long times of waiting. I did after 3 weeks of my car not starting up. I talked to owners wife and immediately told her I don’t have anymore money to put into the car. She said ok well we can see what we can do and try to get it looked at. Yesterday when I spoke to her it all changed and she was saying they needed $165 to look at the car when her husband said I have 3 years of warranty on every part and what they fixed. Well that’s horrible customer service, and greedy period.
