I got an oil change in July. 2024 at Midas in Latham. I had an 8 am appointment and it took until 9:45 am for my car to be pulled in for the 15 minute service. When my car was finally pulled in, they give me the laundry list of issues: cabin filter, air filter, other fluids. Interestingly, those filters were just recently replaced. None of this stuff needed to be done. They finally complete the oil change around 10 AM. Now here is why I write this review: After I get home and the car sits in my garage with a brand new garage floor, I pull the car out and there is a pile of oil about 2 feet by 4 feet under my car- not a few drips- a pile! I check the oil level and it still registers there is oil so I drive to Midas and they put the car up and tell me that the oil cap was not secure. And they also tell me that it is not part of their oil change procedure to make sure the cap is ok and they say they do not touch the drip pan telling me my drip pan was loose. What????? Really????? They can tell me about all this bogus stuff like a cabin filter but don’t check the gasket on the oil cap? They did provide a new o ring, cleaned off all the oil that had spilled over everything, topped off the oil that came out. I asked them about my damaged garage floor and they told me a manager would call- NO call yet. But there is more!
In January 2024, I took my car here for an oil change and NYS inspection. They failed my car for inspection on tires claiming that two tires were at 2 depth. I take my car back to Sam’s Club where I got the tires and they say. What? The tires are fine and 4-5 depth. So I take the car to a reputable mechanic who inspects the car and says the tires are fine, but look to replace end of year for winter. Now here’s where it gets weird at Midas: when I am there in July 2024 for the other oil change, I ask about the tires for safety reasons and they say- “They are good at 4 depth”. Go figure!!

Well I have to amend my review of Midas overall. The company did reach out to me and Bobby the manager over the Midas’ in the area called me. He was professional, kind and helpful. He listened to the issues and took action to make it right by: 1) refunding the original oil change, reimbursing me for the necessary garage clean up 2) had me come in to any Midas to have the oil cap looked at and at that visit he decided to replace the entire cap with a new one and replace all the oil with any oil I wanted and replaced new filter 3) I received a coupon for a free synthetic oil change 4) Bobby personally did all this work at the 1722 Central Ave store 5) he showed me everything he was doing and cleaned up under my car from the oil leakage.
I am very impressed with the integrity and professional approach my Midas. So I have to change my review for Midas and give Central Ave 5 stars, but am still cautious of the Latham Midas.

Comment : Just had an oil change and needed a TPMS sensor replaced. I have had at least 4 of these replaced, one sometime last year due to technician breaking one, 2 more February 22, and now another one today. They do not track these repairs and which ones they replace and where so I don't know if these are being replaced and i have all 4 new or the same ones having to be repaired. 800. Dollars later. I would like to know which ones are being replaced each time, BUT they don't keep track of these things. BEYOND ANNOYED right now and tired of throwing money into these damn sensors. I may look into a new garage for service if they keep needing to be replaced after this.

Bought Cooper all seasons plus an alignment for my Chevy Equinox. Have been going here for years. Shawn and Dominic are awesome! Today I had to have brakes, front and back, rotors and an alignment. Shawn worked with me on price and discussed reasons for warning lights that kept coming on. Very happy with the service.

Comment : I got service here and inspection told them my wheels making noise. They did the service and said the wheels are ok it's just the breaks hardware and it's fine. took my car to another place the rotors are old and woren with grooves the breaks are unevenly woren. The first midas screw me over on state street Schenectady. And the latham midas said it's not their issue it's the other midas and they separate. Wanted to charge me 1500 to get new rotors and breaks. I got it done for less than 1000. Better work and quality also. These guys just here for a weekly pay check. They don't care about you.

Comment : Shawn is the man. Goes above and beyond for every customer. Takes time to forge relationships which creates repeat business. Truck was done before the scheduled time and even got a call to let me know. Will continue to go to this location because of Shawn and his crew.
