Comment : Took our car in for state inspection today. It passed, but Dustin called to tell us that there was some wear on the control arms/ball joints that could affect the steering, and we should replace them at some point. No pressure, just an FYI. He did not know that we had noticed some issues with the steering and had taken it to the dealer in C’ville a few months back. They did some maintenance stuff but said they couldn’t find a problem with the steering. But we knew there was something weird going on and had just learned to anticipate steering tightness (like unexpectedly driving a 1960’s car for a few seconds). I was so relieved when Dustin called!! We had them do the recommended work and I drove my beloved car home with totally normal steering!! The car was clean as a whistle, and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Mac’s!

Comment : Got my vehicle in fast as it was and emergency. The water pump.....belt and thermastat they replaced are working fine. Some how as they were working on my Ram one of the side window visors got knocked off. Its a work truck so wasnt a big deal to me. But they insisted on ordering a new replacement set and installing them on their dime. Have to respect that. They do good work.

Comment : I want to thank you, on behalf of your staff, for diagnosing and repairing a potentially very expensive issue with my Altima.This was my wife's car, mine now, and the check engine light kept coming on. The people we brought the car to before said it was an emissions issue and nothing to worry about.Your master technician diagnosed an overly rich fuel-air mixture, which could have burned out the catalytic convertor.Thank you again for this timely diagnosis and repair!!I want to thank you, on behalf of your staff, for diagnosing and repairing a potentially very expensive issue with my Altima. Comment : I took my car to Macs for a front end alignment and they tried to tell me that my tire was broken, wanting to sell me a whole new set for $1000 extra dollars. I declined and they said that my car would pull to the left because of it. Well I go get it back and it is massively pulling to the right and had my dad (mechanic) check out my tires and he said that they are fine. So I paid for an alignment that I didnt get. Comment : Please do yourself a favor and make sure you get a 2nd opinion/estimate prior to having them do work. They were going to install a new alternator in my vehicle and advised that they would let me know if I needed a new tensioner once they inspected it. After inspection they said a new tensioner was needed and it would be 3 hours labor for a total of $576. I called 2 other places (including a dealer) and they both said if you are replacing the alternator there really was no additional labor to replace the tensioner pulley as it only has 2 bolts. I actually called Macs back and discussed this with them and they wouldn't budge off their price. Long story short I took it to another shop (pretty big outfit) and saved $475 (This was the Troy Location)

Comment : Broke down 2 hours from home on Christmas Day. On my daughter s recommendation - she has been going to Mac s for a number of years - I contacted them the following day and they inducted my vehicle as soon as I got it towed there. Mac s diagnosed and fixed the problem within 2 hours and had us on the way home. I highly recommend using Mac s if you need good and reliable service.Broke down 2 hours from home on Christmas Day.
