Comment : Buyers Beware – Classic Bait and Switch Tactics

I had a disappointing experience with Jaguar Land Rover Woodland Hills, specifically while working with Lanndon Christensen. I contacted him about a used Tesla Model Y and confirmed both the price and availability. After verifying the details, I let him know I’d be driving 2.5 hours from Irvine to see the vehicle. Lanndon told me to ask for the general manager, Mike, upon arrival.

I made it clear that I didn’t want to waste the trip if the car sold, and Lanndon assured me he would notify me if anything changed. Yet when I arrived, I was greeted by Amin, who told me the vehicle had sold within an hour of being listed—even though the listing had already been live for at least two days.

Immediately after, they began trying to upsell me on older or more expensive vehicles. It felt like a deliberate bait-and-switch tactic. I’m sharing this experience to warn other buyers: be cautious when dealing with this dealership. Confirm everything in writing and don’t assume transparency.

The process was fast and easy, i literally did everything over text and just had to come in and sign. It was smooth and simple Landon was very responsive and helped me get back into my 3rd X5M. And Amir made the process easy as well in finance and was very helpful with the warranty and maintenance options for the car.
