Comment : UPDATE: Adding a photo of my left rear tire. One month later. I might very well have driven over something and this isn't the fault of the garage. But I've had my tires changed before, previously it was a pep boys, and there was not A flat tire for a long, long time. And I rarely had to put air in my tires after that in general. but look at this tire, one month after getting them, and if you note, I said in my original review below the tires did not look new even when I first picked up my car from the garage.

This is the work I received after, somehow, after I said both on the phone and in the store when I dropped it off that I would wait in the lobby - they forgot I was in the lobby. I guess they forgot about me and forgot to put air in the new tire.

Original review:

First time I went was for a rhythmic
squeaking. When they said it was fixed and
I came to pick it up, as I drove it away from
the shop, before even leaving their parking
lot - I heard the squeaking still. What did
my $200 fix then?!

Later I needed to pass inspection. i spoke
to someone on the phone who told me I
could come in in a few days, Friday. I show
up Friday morning - no appointments
available. They tell me next week. Be there
at 8am.

That next week I get there on time, I'm
seen. I say I'll wait in the lobby. 3hrs later
they say they didn't realize I was waiting
there and my car had not even been
looked at yet. By 12 or so they've seen it
and say I need all new tires. I buy them
They say they'll be done in a couple hours.
But now I have things to do so they'll call
me when ready. 3hrs later still no call. I call
THEM and I'm told they were just picking
up their phone to call me. (Hmm... really?)

I go pick up my car and the "new" tires look
like regular old tires. A little dusty. I think I
see some light cracking in the rubber. Tread isn't terribly thick. Maybe that's normal but when I think of a new tire I think jet black, wet finish, deep grooves in the tread. None of that here.

I had quicker turnaround and better
results when I lived in Roxborough going
to Fountain Street Auto. I used Fred's
because they were so close to where I live
but they've moved to a shopping mall so
I'd have to drive either way now.

Comment : I have relied on Fred's for over twenty years and three cars and would never go anyplace else. They're direct, honest, friendly, no nonsense. They'll always tell you if they can't fix your car and give you a good recommendation for who can. They'll always tell you what's what and will give your car (and you) a careful examination. Seeing them always lifts my spirits because they've always been fair and I trust them. And when they fix something, it stays fixed. Thanks guys!
