Comment : Excellent service. Extremely pleasant employees who are helpful & take the time to answer all your questions. I can always depend on Dowdy's to do repair/service my car efficiently, correctly & at a fair price.

We brought our family's 2005 Volvo XC90 to Dowdy's with starting problems that included ignition-related symptoms. I specifically explained these symptoms to Taylor at the counter and asked if the problem could be the ignition. He emphatically told me their mechanic said it was the starter. We trusted their diagnosis and paid $862.43 for the replacement.

Within approximately 1 month, by mid-August, the key became stuck in the ignition, the starter burned up, and starter wiring was damaged. We then spent approximately $2,000 at Volvo addressing the ignition and key problem, yet our vehicle still did not run.

The Manager Brandon Hepting refused to help resolve the situation, and I found his attitude rude and dismissive. After corresponding with vice president Tyler Seeley, Dowdy's continued to deny responsibility.

What particularly disappointed me was Tyler's response to the Idaho Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. He stated that the vehicle had operated for “several months” after the starter replacement. The starter was replaced in mid-July, and the key became stuck and the starter failed in mid-August. It was approximately one month, not several months. Tyler's statement made in writing to the Attorney General was a blatant lie. I can actually post everything he wrote here or in my next review about Dowdy's. He also emphasized the vehicle's age and mileage rather than addressing my concern that I had specifically reported ignition symptoms before authorizing the starter replacement.

After I contacted the Attorney General's office, Brandon told me that because I had contacted them, Dowdy's could not work on my car and that if I did not remove it from their property, it would be towed and impounded.

We tried repeatedly to resolve this directly. Instead, we were left with a disabled vehicle, substantial expenses, and no help from a business we had trusted for years.

This is about honesty, accountability, and customer service. A company's character shows in how it handles problems, not just when everything goes right. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Dowdy's Automotive.'>

Comment : Terrible Customer Service and a Failed Repair

Comment : Dowdy's was a godsend when my car broke down in Boise. I was impressed with their customer service and how affordable the repairs were. It's not often that I feel like I'm getting a good deal on automotive repair. Dowdy's is one of a few places I've come across that's trustworthy.

Comment : Our 2010 Honda Odyssey broke down & we had it towed to Dowdy's on Federal Way in Boise, ID. Brandon & Taylor both were very good at listening to our dilemma (traveling through the area) & were good at communicating with us & working with our schedule. After I picked the car up, it was obvious there was a faulty part installed & they immediately took the car back in & got it repaired quickly. I highly recommend Dowdy's in Boise!

Comment : The technician found out the source of the problem and advised us to go to the Ford dealership and have them service it due to a factory recall.
