Comment : UPDATE: ac already doesn t get cold anymore. I m going to a therapy AC shop in Waco to get the issue resolved. I ll update on the quality and price of the Discount Automotive shop in Waco, Tx. I highly recommend them, I ve had successful service and very decent prices in the past. I just chose Dave s for hopefully superior service and convenience. Money was not the issue. I didn t have a budget. Simply a goal to get my ac functioning. Ac actuator to say the least which was not a problem going in the shop as there was hot air blowing from the vents high or low. But Discount Automotive FOR SURE specializes in that service.I hope to save the next person a trip and money for similar issues as this is just a monopoly regardless of what model and year of a car. People s livelihood depend on transportation for the most part. Please be aware of the risk with AC work at Dave s as I am not the first to drive away and need to continue repairs elsewhere or try to return for the proper resolution only for response to be tone deaf and unbothered because of their ASKED FOR good reviews.Just because I couldn t include this in my last review.I ve had better experience and outcome from my brother using YouTube in many issues and he knows what and how to do ac actuator without hesitation (as well as DISCOUNT AUTOMOTIVE IN WACO TX)Dave s LABOR NO KNOWLEDGE, no experience or intelligence with cars. Just textbook and statistical verbiage to protect their overhyped service. No authentic technicians or service here whatsoever. Please seek AC service elsewhere and get a price before coming here as your last resort.760 dollars in labor costs for less than 300 dollars of parts and supplies. Yet the AC actuator that would have resolved the final issue was declined to be serviced because the dashboard already cracked near the windshield was a concern for putting the dashboard back on. (I wish I had a before picture of the dashboard and I wish they had taken a picture before so I could confirm whether they meddled with the integrity of those cracks causing further separation, but all I have is their word they just observed the integrity of the cracks to come to that recommendation of not replacing the AC Actuator because the dashboard would need to be taken off.)I was sent out of the door with the final service being the ac gets cold but airflow from vents is low but The vents were not blowing it just felt cold because the air was radiating from the floor and no matter what setting the ac was on, it would only blow air at the feet. Thus needing actuators.I m just here to warn about the high labor costs, if I had a price breakdown of the service I was actually paying towards I would have declined and compared prices elsewhere But I had too much pride and determination to walk away like I didn t have the money to afford a service to get ac to survive this heat. They didn t do a great job explaining to a woman in plain terms to give me a fighting chance to get the service for my dollars. It s160 something for diagnostics but they wouldn t confirm one issue after another unless they worked on the issue inevitably increasing the service charge I d have to pay outside of the diagnostic. Part of labor costs is being knowledgeable but this place utterly lacks that. Just charging for labor.I paid for diagnostics, maybe I missed the point of a diagnostic but I feel like and can read the paperwork that ac actuators was a prevalent issue and they should have known that was an issue before hand they would decline in the end. I could have had a chance to take it somewhere willing to replace the ac actuators and get it cold. If the air flow was low when coming into the shop, then that should have been advised the service would not result in a functioning ac vent blowing out cold air but if it was only an issue after their service, then that is an issue that I further suffer from. But atleast it gets cold :/ I guess. My kids won t be happy but my feet will definitely freeze before they even remotely benefit form the cold air.UPDATE: ac already doesn t get cold anymore. I was greeted warmly and after explaining what was happening with my car along with my financial position, they still quickly attended to my car and fixed it up. Comment : I've had both my car and truck serviced at Dave's since 2021. The reason why is, back in 2021, I took my truck to another automotive shop and was told I needed repairs with a high cost for repairs. Not wanting to spend that much, and having doubts on needed repairs, I sought a second opinion. Hence, I took my vehicle to Dave's. Surprise, surprise, I only needed a portion of the repairs done and at a lower cost. Goes without saying, I had the work done at Dave's Ultimate Automotive and haven't looked back since. The upside(s) to getting work done at DUA is, they offer a VIP program that gives you discounts on work, once you reach a certain cost point and they have a 3yr/36K mile warranty on most major repairs. The only negative (for some) is they're not open on the weekends......not an issue for me though. The employees need to have a work/life balance also and I fully support companies that allow their employees to have a life outside of work. Comment : Leaving 1 star only because the work I got was over priced. I got a alternator and 2fans the total was 3040.00. I do drive a 2013 Volvo but after speaking to three other shops I was informed that they took advantage.
