Comment : Would not recommend Mentor City Tire which used to be Consumer Tire. We were overcharged for complete brake job at $1675. Dealer gave us estimates at least $300 less, unfortunately in hindsight. This business is not like the former Consumer Tire. Will not return.

Comment : I had a problem with the radio in my Dodge Ram that Chris helped me fix over the phone. The dealership wanted to charge me $200 just to hook it up to the diagnostic machine and then possibly replace the whole thing, costing about $1000 in parts and labor.Chris took the time to look up the specific problem and called me back the same day with a solution and it worked perfectly. Comment : Usually I have good service but not today. Went in for check engine light, they said they couldn t order a catyltyic converter for me and that they don t weld, wanted to charge me 50 dollars for hooking it up to a computer with no plan going forward. Comment : My son needed new tires during his winter break from college. With my busy work schedule and his we had only one day to try to get his car in for this service somewhere local to us. I called many other places and they were booked up into the next week. At a friend's recommendation I called Consumer Tire in Mentor and talked to Chris. He was very helpful and kind and we discussed several different tire options that were economical to us. He verified the tires were in stock and told us to come in for service an hour from our phone discussion. Comment : I wanted to leave a review for an honest shop. Lived in Mentor my whole life and my father used to go to Consumer all the time. I went in for 4 tires and my dealership also told me I needed brakes. I actually set ut in motion to just do the brakes but they called me to tell me I didn't need them and I had good pad amounts left, and checked to make sure I didn't have any braking issues. It was a breath of fresh air, in this economy to have the term 'honest mechanic' really mean something. I appreciate Chris as he has been great this whole time as well and great with their communication. I would recommend you give these honest guys a chance to work on your car and know I will be back for the full brake repairs when needed.
