Screw was removed and tire fixed in less than 20 minutes. 1 Reviews Mitchek Saranac Lake, NY I have taken my vehicle to this shop Three to four times now. Each time I have left having BASIC issues Unsolved yet they still charged for "diagnostics/time" like they actually did something. I'm not going to argue about prices on pickup. You're just not going to get my business and I'll just advise others against your poor practices.I brought my car in for an oil change. I informed them. I believe I also have a wheel bearing that was starting to go and asked them to determine which one it was. They charged me $40 for diagnostics and concluded all wheel bearings were perfectly fine. The driver side front wheel bearing got so bad I needed to replace it within 2 months of this diagnostic. For those who don't know a passenger car, used normally, Should have its wheel bearing last at least 1/2 The lifetime of the vehicle. The most basic way to determine this is basically taking a stethoscope with a stick attached to it and poking random bits of metal around the wheels. As they're spinning. You can very easily tell if a bearing is going based on the sound it produces I'm going to chalk this one up to to just shear incompetence. (Side note, they also over tightened the drain plug. Almost needed an impact to take it off the next time I tried to do an oil change)I went in for an alignment sometime later and stated I also had another very common issue. A heat shield that had become loose due to its mounting hardware rusting over time and loosening up. I know this can be fixed by purchasing a new heat shield, new components ect and doing a full repair. However, that was not what I was interested in. I simply wanted the rattle to stop so I asked if they could use steel wire to secure the obviously damaged heat shield Not a permanent solution but also doesn't need to be. Upon picking up the vehicle they said they discovered six Rusty bolts which they replaced and charged me $96 for they also then proceeded to tell me they didn't fix the rattle as it was an "engine" rattle.1. The sheet metal that a heat shield is made of does not sound like the clanking of connecting rods and or the "rattles" an engine would make.2. When I got home I turned the vehicle off got under the vehicle as best I could (Its low). tapped/shook the exhaust a few times and could hear the heat shield rattling exactly as I had explainedSo I don't know if their intentions are to try and make extra money as a scummy garage or if they're generally just that incompetent, but I will no longer be taking my vehicle to this establishment***Update for any of those curious after some more poking around, I was able to determine the cause of the rattle. It was an oem hose clamp securing the heat shield to the exhaust that had deteriorated so badly that I was able to remove it from the vehicle with my bare hands and no tools. This has now solidified my belief that these people are completely incompetent and should not be trusted with power tools much less hand tools, how they are still in business is beyond me.Thinking back to the time that I got my oil changed. They also randomly decided to rotate my tires without asking me, did it wrong, and then charged me $40THERE'S AN ARROW LITERALLY PRINTED IN THE RUBBER ON THE TIRE SHOWING THE DIRECTION IT'S SUPPOSED TO ROTATE. When rotating unidirectional tires on a vehicle you need to swap the front and the back or take them completely off the rim. You cannot just cross swap them as they will be backwards. Please educate yourself on your vehicle and how they operate before trusting someone that says they're a "professional".You're better off. All of the services you'll be price gouged for, any work besides the primary job, you'll be price gouged even heavier.I have taken my vehicle to this shop Three to four times now.
