I originally had this as a 5 star review, but I had to change it as a result of my recent experience with this place. I've been taking my car here for a few years, and my parents have a long 20 year history with this business and getting their car fixed here. 2 weeks ago, we took my husbands car in to get looked at for a cylinder misfire and get a diagnosis as to the cause. They had to dismantle it, send it to a machine shop, and get an estimate from there which was fine and all. I followed up a few times and spoke to the same gentleman the entire time. I was up front from the start that I had a certain credit limit for the repairs and anything beyond that, we wouldn't be able to pick up my car right away while we gathered the funds. Well, the repairs ended up being $2000 over my credit limit which i found out last week on Monday. I did re-emphasize that I did not have the immediate funds to fix it, but I did have that credit line to pay them with right away (which would cover the dismantling and a few other things), so with that understanding and that communication, they confirmed that was fine and they would do the dismantling and repairs.

Fast forward to this Wednesday (1 week and 2 days from the previous conversation), I get a call saying my car is completed in which I was greatful for them letting me know, and I re-emphasized that It would take some time for me to gather the funds to pick it up as I had a limited credit amount available to me which the services exceeded. I was asked how long it would be by the receptionist and gave the honest answer that I had no idea as we do not have $2000 extra just lying around. I needed to find time to figure it out. I could not accurately provide a timeframe. I did not say they would not get paid. I did not refuse to pay. I did not complain at all and was trying to be up front from the get go and was greatful for their work on my car. They seemed to be understanding, I thought.

Barely 24 hours after that conversation with the receptionist on Wednesday letting me know that my car was done, I got a call from the same guy I talked to originally who vocalized no issues with my situation in the 5 times I spoke to him previously stating that we needed to discuss my car being there long term and that's not something they can accommodate, so the next step would be for us to hand over the title to our car so they could make back the money they spent on repairs and requested I call him back because we needed to get this resolved by the end of the upcoming week or they'd have to take further action... 24 hours after they called me to tell me my car was completed... My car was not sitting there for days, weeks, months, ECT. Waiting to be paid for or taking up excess space unnecessarily... No, they completed it and then 24 hours later said if you don't pay us what we're owed then we're gonna need the title to your car. It went from 0-100 in 24 hours.

So in an anxiety induced state, I frantically searched for loans, means to pay, and figured it out. I got a loan, maxed out my credit card, and my mom is now out $1000 helping me get our car out before they escalated.

If I'm going to have to spend $3200 to get my car fixed next time, I'd rather do it somewhere that has compassion, treats me like a person, and doesn't threaten legal action by suggesting that I relinquish the title of my car to them for non-payment in as little as 24 hours after notifying me of completion of service. I don't need to be broke/in debt, and have a panic attack too. That's not necessary.

Needless to say, I will find another mechanic, and so will my family.

I'm greatful they fixed it, I am glad it's done, I think they probably did a good job (tbd as it's been 12 hours since we got it back), but I do not like the way I was treated in the end.'>

Comment : You know...I used to have my car towed from Alvarado, TX to this place because I thought it was great. Unfortunately, I can't say the same now.
