Comment : I went to my scheduled appointment on Tuesday, June 10th for an oil change. They asked if they should do any work on my tires and I told them no because I get those serviced at Costco. When I picked my car up an hour later, I got a service light on my dash saying that my tire pressure on one of my front tires was 44 psi, over 10 psi above the correct number (33). I was already driving, so I got my car home and went to let out some of the air when I noticed that the hubcap on my front passenger side was deeply scraped, as if a curb had been hit, and there was a mark on the passenger side door. I called Berlin City immediately and the rep on the phone told me to come back so they could check it out. I drove straight back to the shop and met with Jon, who assured me that adding air to tires is a standard procedure they do with every service appointment, same with washing each car. He took a look at my hubcap and said he’d check the security cameras, so I waited for about half an hour inside.
When Jon came back, he told me that the tech had actually not put air into my tires, despite stating 30 minutes earlier that it was standard procedure. I reminded him that my tire pressure light had also turned on immediately after my appointment, but he had no answer. Jon stated that the cameras in their garage “didn’t catch the angle of the passenger tire”, and “all the areas we drive cars around in the garage are smooth”, so they “weren’t sure” what happened to my rim, but Jon said someone would reach out. The layout of their tire-pump station is outside of the shop’s garage, which requires a car to be pulled up next to the curb for the tire pressure to be checked and for the car to be washed– which is most likely the curb they hit when doing service on my car.
Jon said he wasn’t sure why my tire pressure was so high, but that he could go fix it if I gave him my keys, so I did. Then, I saw him hand my keys to the tech who worked on it earlier. I went outside to request that that tech no longer work on my car and that Jon fix my tire pressure like he said he would. Jon and the tech were laughing at me the whole time, and when I drove away my tire pressure was still 3 psi over the correct number.
Jon told me that either him or a manager named Pat would be in contact with me within a week. I got no call from them, so I called back a week and a half after my appointment. Over the phone, I was told that all customer service reps were unavailable, but the operator I spoke with took my number and said someone would call back, but no one did. A few days after that, I called the Concern Resolution Manager’s number, but it went to voicemail, so I called the main line and spoke with an operator. I was on hold for a while before the line went to another voicemail. I’m disappointed in the service provided, but especially disappointed in the lack of response and accountability from Berlin City Kia.
