Comment : We are always happy to support small, local businesses, but unfortunately, our experience with Benton's was extremely disappointing. Based on our experience, I would highly discourage people from spending their time or money there.
A few weeks ago, the A/C in our vehicle stopped working, so we took it to Benton's for repair. We ultimately paid approximately $2,600 for the repairs. Afterward, we had another mechanic look into the issue and he quoted us $1,400 for the work, which was already frustrating considering the significant difference in price.
More importantly, we were told that the A/C had been repaired. When we picked up the vehicle, however, the A/C was not actually working properly. It was blowing cool air, but it was nowhere near as cold as it should have been.
A few days later, before we had a chance to bring it back, the A/C completely stopped working again while I was driving home with my young baby in the car. It was 105° outside.
We immediately brought the vehicle back. We were initially told that they would fix the issue at no additional cost because the initial repair had not been done correctly/resolved the issue. However, we later received a call quoting us nearly $800 to replace a hose that had been functioning properly prior to the repairs and would have been reconnected as part of the original work.
At that point, it felt like we were being asked to pay for a problem that occurred after their repair.
We attempted to resolve the situation directly and professionally. The manager was not helpful, and we asked to speak to the owner. We were told the owner would be contacted and that we would hear back. After several days without hearing anything, my husband called again and was told they had not yet spoken to the owner. The following day, we were ultimately told that there was nothing more they could do. So we are now $2,600 out of pocket with a vehicle that still doesn't have working A/C.
The cost alone was disappointing, but what really made this experience so frustrating was the way the situation was handled afterward. We gave Benton's multiple opportunities to make this right, and unfortunately, we did not feel that they took responsibility for the outcome of their work.
We have never been this disappointed by a small local business. We wanted to support a local shop, but on our experience, we will NOT be returning and CANNOT recommend Benton's to others. Save yourself the headache, go somewhere else.
