Comment : I’m so glad you asked for a review! —
I recently returned to Williamsburg and decided to go back to American Pride to have my car inspected. Boy has that place changed! I always felt it was a place I could trust. The inspection went fine except that they had a list a mile long of things I NEEDED to have replaced or repaired. I thought they weren’t going to let me leave!! I take very good care of my car and have timely oil changes and maintenance done. Stupidly, I decided I would give them another try figuring they would not try to upsell me, yet again, so soon. So I went back for an oil change, new air filter and to have my tires rotated. Not only did they continue to try to upsell me yet again, they ripped me off with a $229 bill! I’ve NEVER paid anywhere near that for the same things I had done and have always had tire rotation included in the oil change price. They charged me $40 just for tire rotation; $80 for the oil, the air filter was $83! Shop supplies were $18.18 (whatever that is!) I looked at reviews while waiting for the oil change to be completed and there it was over and over again “over charge for work done and try to upsell constantly!” When I was leaving I told the worker at the desk that their shop has surely changed, that they now constantly try to upsell and that others feel that way too. I said I will not be back! After I got in the car I realized how astronomical the charges were, as well. Had it dawned on me while paying, I would have mentioned that too. I went home, got on Facebook, and asked for recommendations for next time. No one recommended American Pride, but I did hear about their constant upselling and way overcharging. I will NEVER go back there again and will share my experience with whomever I can. High pressure to have work done and being a complete ripoff will keep me talking so others will choose a much less stressful and expensive garage.

Comment : I need to take a moment to rave about this location and the amazing staff that works here. Of course I waited last minute for a state inspection and needed to be seen. I called and Kayla was able to fit me in and with a decent wait time. Anthony provided me with transportation to and from the location while my vehicle was being worked on. Within a few hours, the inspection was completed along with some minor work that needed for it to pass. I will definitely be coming back to this location in the future.

Comment : I own my own car dealership and service shop, so I consider myself an expert in this field. I truly had a great experience at American Pride and I cannot recommend American Pride enough! My wife and kids were taking a day trip to Busch Gardens and unfortunately the starter went out in my wife’s car. Luckily, they broke down near American Pride on Airport Rd. We live in Alexandria and I was home running our dealership while they went to have some spring break fun. Since I was several hours away, I started calling local shops around where they broke down. After having some not so successful calls to other shops, American Pride assured me they would be able to take care of the problem and get my family back on the road safely the same day. The biggest thing was the piece of mind from their staff that I did not get when I was calling around trying to find a shop. Anthony answered the phone and immediately I could tell he understood how I felt, being hours away and having my wife, my 4 and 7 year olds stranded with a broken down car. Anthony, as well as a female employee (sorry I am bad with names), understood the situation, kept me updated throughout the day (they also have a feature that texts you with updates) and made sure my family would be back on the road the same day. They even offered to Uber them back to the shop when the vehicle was ready! The starter went bad and they were able to get the vehicle in the shop and back running within a few hours. Also, even though I really did not care about whatever price they were going to charge, they did not try to price gauge me because of my situation. From the total bill, it seemed as if they may have even given me a break on the price, but when I asked, that was their normal rates. Really incredible service at a great price. I truly wish they had a shop near Alexandria because good shops like American Pride are hard to come by and with me owning a car dealership, I could use American Pride on a daily basis. They do business the right way which is why they have been in business so long. When you do business the right way, putting Purpose Before Profit, a business is setup for success. From what it looks like with how many shops they have in the area and the way they took care of my situation, American Pride will remain successful and keep expanding their business. Thank you so much Anthony and American Pride! You made a tough situation for me and my family into no big deal and allowed my wife and kids to still have a great day at the park while you made sure our vehicle was ready to go for their long drive back to Alexandria. I cannot thank you enough!

Comment : Do not take your car here. They lie and upsell. That is the business model. Took my Mom's car and they said she had a blown engine. Sent us pictures of fake engine codes. It was all a lie. Took it to a reliable mechanic and all it needed was an oil change. They try to sell you the most expensive service every time. Do not trust these people.
