After paying the fee, she told me that the car was stored in another facility in downtown LA, over a 30-minute drive. I asked why, and she just said that's how it is, without even verifying the information. However, when I drove there to pick it up, the car could not be located in the other facility. I called the office and was told over the phone that it was just a mistake on their part, and they have the car. Once I came back, I had to wait yet again for them to even pay attention to me. Only after saying that I am not willing to wait any longer, after they had already made me drive to a different city, they called an employee to release the car. He gave me two options. Tow it to my house for a free or take it to A-Car Auto on Walnut for a free estimate. I chose the latter, maybe it wouldn't be so expensive. I never got a call so the next morning I walked over to see what the cost would be for the body work. Turns out the vehicle was totaled and they'd be selling it to a junkyard. I asked, "How much do I get for that?" Keep in mind junkyards pay about a thousand bucks for a totaled car. She said, "Nothing. It all goes to fees." "What fees?" "Over $200 for the tow and over $400 for lot fees." Keep in mind that it's against the law to charge LOT FEES when doing an estimate. So it was either pay $640 to get my vehicle back or bring them the title so they could sell it. They profited a thousand bucks on a vehicle they don't even own.
